driving shoes are good for business

Driving shoes are for driving. I don't know if you know that, or if you even know what driving shoes are. They're the moccasin-shaped shoe with funny little rubber bumps for a sole. They're also very comfortable.
However, they are for driving. The little bumps that go up the heel are for grip on the pedal. But, since they're so darn comfortable and cute, everyone wears them as a new pair of sneakers and when their shoe falls apart (as it will, since they're not for everyday wear) they come to us.
And we fix them. So, thank you, driving shoe.

In other shoe-repair news, I've discovered I enjoy re-lacing boat shoes.
Who knew?

History

My mother found these old photos of two shops owned by my grandfather. The Dad and Lad store was a joint ownership with his father (my great-grandfather)

I'm not entirely certain, but I believe the Cobbler shop was down here in south Florida.
The other is in Michigan.
These old pictures are fun to look at and remind me of the two other locations my father owned. Oh, the years I spent in those stores, minding the counter, shining shoes while watching cartoons, and getting a new toy for a job well done.

I need these shoes

I need these Nikes. I don't normally wear Nikes. I don't think I've ever owned a pair. And I'm not a sprinter, either. But these fish skin Nikes are so damn cool. I've only found a few pairs on eBay (and unfortunately they are rarely in my size). In fact, these ones aren't in my size but I'm thinking I can throw them on the stretcher and widen them up.
The yellow ones are definitely my favorite. But there's others.
Someone buy me a pair and I will be eternally grateful (on the inside).

Although those high-tops are pretty wicked shoes, too....
